COVID-19 contingency Plan for pupils at LZW

    Dear parents/ carers,

We are creating a contingency plan for the coming weeks in the light of yesterday’s announcements about school closures and provision for pupils with EHCPs. As you can imagine this is a complex situation.

At the moment I am awaiting clarification on the “key workers” categories from the DfE and the Local Authority’s advice on provision for pupils with EHCPs, which covers our whole school population. Currently I am working to ensure that we have enough staff to operate a safe school for pupils.

However, government guidance stipulates that due to the highly contagiousness of COVID-19, people with underlying medical vulnerabilities should minimise social contact. Therefore pupils with these needs will not be in school for the foreseeable future. School will maintain contact through alternative means of which we will share in our contingency plans.

    https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-guidance-on-social-distancing-and-for-vulnerable-people/guidance-on-social-distancing-for-everyone-in-the-uk-and-protecting-older-people-and-vulnerable-adults

I ask that once the “key worker” list is published that you contact school as soon as possible to let us know if you are in this category.

I will email on Friday 20th March with our proposed contingency plan.

If you wish to discuss your child’s situation, please contact the school.

    Yours sincerely,

    Hilary Davies

  • COVID-19 Class Closures - Letter Sent to Parents 17th March 2020

    Tue 17 Mar 2020

    17th March 2020

    COVID-19 Class Closures

    Dear parents/carers

I have spoken with the Department for Education and Luton Education Services today in light of the government announcements in relation to COVID-19 and vulnerable people with underlying medical conditions. I have made the decision to close your child’s class as there are many pupils who are likely to be more affected by the virus. I am very sorry to have to do this, but feel it is the better option given the seriousness of the high infection rates that are now passing through our communities.

Your child’s last day will be Wednesday 18th March. Currently our re-opening is after the Easter holidays, 21st April, however, this is subject to confirmation and government guidance.

If you require equipment such as walkers, standing frames etc. please do contact the school. Your class teacher will be in contact with ideas for learning support over the coming weeks.

    Yours sincerely

    Hilary Davies

    Headteacher

Classes affected: Willow, Poppy, Rose, Daffodil, Bluebell, Lavender, Buttercup, Clover & Snowdrop.

  • Fantastic fundraising effort

Mon 25 Nov 2019 Hilary Davies

An amazing £13,500 has been raised for redeveloping school's sensory areas.

One of our parents - Ray Khan has partnered with friends, family and with local charity www.ocou.org. Over 30 people raised the sum by running in Love Luton 10k and half marathon and climbing Scarfell Pike, England's highest peak.

We are so grateful for their fantastic efforts.
