    Communication & Interaction

    • Universal Support covers child’s communication which is supported within the school/classroom environment. It is demonstrated through Continuous modelling of AAC mode at Phase or Stage recommended. Includes the use of simple language models, Makaton, OOR, choice boards, Attention Autism etc. Needs & support noted in EHCP & pupil profile.
    • Targeted Support for child’s communication which is supported within the school/classroom environment following S&LT therapy program or recommendations. Targets will be in place and can be reviewed when deemed needed by class teacher/lead.
    • Specialised Support when children are seen regularly by a communication specialist. Programmes will be created and advice/targets given to support class staff for individual children. additional staff training, higher staffing ratio, limited timetable, increased SENDAT funding and other professionals involved.
